From December 2 to 4, the PetroCup World Student Olympics 2025 Final took place, with 16 teams from 8 countries participating.
The victory went to the team from Russia — students of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Finally, the medals and the N.N. Neprimerov Trophy have found their winners!
We warmly congratulate the team of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University on their well-deserved victory!
We are proud of your achievement and wish you many more bright accomplishments!

The Final stage of the PetroCup Student Olympics was held online on December 2–4, 2025, bringing together young specialists from all over the world in one virtual space!
The winners of the Final are:
- 🥇 1st place — Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (Russia)
- 🥈 2nd place — St. Petersburg State University (Russia)
- 🥉 3rd place — Almetyevsk state technological university «Petroleum high school» (Russia)
The popularity of the Olympics is growing at an incredible pace: this year, 16 student teams competed for the championship title — that’s 157 participants, almost twice as many as in 2024!
To reach the Finals, teams had to pass a rigorous selection in the regional Leagues:
- North Eurasia League
- Middle East Gulf League
- Africa League
- South Asia League
In total, 49 teams from Russia, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Oman, Iran, UAE, Pakistan, Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and Malaysia competed on the PetroCup simulator as part of the Olympics in 2025.
We thank every participant for their dedication, energy, and commitment to excellence!

This year, four Leagues competed for a spot in the Final:

The PetroCup 2024 Finals took place from December 2 to 4, bringing together top student teams to tackle complex challenges in oil and gas field development.
After an intense competition, the team from Almetyevsk state technological university «Petroleum high school» emerged as the champions.
At the award ceremony on January 10th, hosted at the Almetyevsk University, the winning team was honored with the iconic N.N.N Cup, celebrating their remarkable achievement.

From December 2 to 4, the finals of the PetroCup World Student Olympics in Oil and Gas Field Development took place.
👨💻 This year's tournament was conducted online, allowing young professionals from around the globe to convene in a virtual environment and showcase their skills in oil field development. A total of 83 students from 11 teams competed using specialized training simulators that replicate the operation of oil and gas facilities.

- 🥈The second place was secured by the team from Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia)
- 🥉Rounding out the top three is the team from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) (India)

🏆 The acceptance of applications for the PetroCup World Student Olympics (PWSO 2024) | Middle East Gulf League continues.
The PWSO is a new era in oil and gas education. It uses PetroCup simulator, which allows participants to design and develop oil fields in virtual reality.
By taking part in the Olympics, students can demonstrate their theoretical knowledge and competence to potential future employers, who are also spectating the event and can evaluate whether students’ knowledge meets the industry demands and challenges.

🏆 The PWSO 2024 | North Eurasia League recently concluded in Moscow, offering teams the unique flexibility to compete either in-person or online.
🌐 This year's competition saw a landmark achievement as a team participating online won a prize for the first time in the league's history.
🥉 The celebrations continued on April 25 in Kazan, where students from the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University secured third place.
🎉 The ceremony was attended by industry experts: Rodion Vladimirovich Guss, Chief PWSO Moderator, and Andrey Terekhin, Deputy Director for Human Resources at KFU. All winners were honored with diplomas, medals, and gifts from PetroCup sponsors.
🏆 We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the team as they advance further to compete for N.N.N. Trophy at the PWSO finale alongside other league champions.
The PWSO 2024 North Eurasia League took place at the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State Geological Prospecting University from April 16th to 17th, 2024, bringing together student talents from the region.
👨🏻💻 The competition drew 25 teams from five countries, including Russia, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan, comprising over 240 students. The event served as a platform that not only challenged the abilities of each team but also fostered teamwork and collaboration among the students.

Each PWSO tournament is conducted using the PetroCup Simulator, a certified simulation tool that includes a bundle of advanced field development tools and analytics.
This tournament was created in memory of professor Nikolay Neprimerov, a prominent Soviet and Russian petroleum scientist, who used to be a professor at Kazan State University, Doctor of Technical Sciences.
For many years, his work was published in Soviet newspapers and Kazan University periodicals.
He is an author of a book about the military's day-to-day operations in front-line aviation.
Professor N. N. Neprimerov has been researching the physics of oil-bearing reservoir recovery for more than four decades.
In 2024, the Petroleum World Student Olympics (PWSO) will once again be the stage for the most talented student teams in the oil and gas sector to compete across various leagues.

🏁 The PetroCup World Student Olympics (PWSO) Finals took place from January 29-31, where students were challenged to develop digital oilfield over the course of three days.
5️⃣ This year's tournament saw students across five oil and gas universities from Russia, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
The final tournament was also held online, providing a platform for students worldwide to join and demonstrate their skills and knowledge in field development.
👨🏻💻 Each team used PetroCup simulator, to simulate a wide array of oilfield activities.
Students were faced with a wide spectrum of challenges, which included addressing sophisticated engineering and geological complications, performing data analysis, and making key strategic decisions to promote field development even further.

📍 - Event date - September 26 - 27, 2023.
✔️ September 22th - Demo session and briefing. The results of this session will not affect the final score; it is a mock session that allows you to become familiar with the simulator. At the briefing, you will learn all the features of working in the simulator and the session specifications.
✔️ September 26th - The first day of the tournament, shots # 1-2 will be called.
✔️ September 27th - The second day of the tournament, shots# 3-5 will be called.
📍 - After the end of the tournament, there will be a debriefing session, during which the scores will be analyzed using the CAS table. The CAS table contains key development indicators including: production, budgeting, and activities performed on producers and injectors.

👨🏻💻 The event was held online, bringing together over 40 students from four universities:

🥇 The team Sharif University of Technology (Iran) secured the first place in Group A.
🌟 This was the first tournament in the PWSO 2023 MEG League series, given the high volume of applications from MEG League countries, it was decided to split the league into two groups.
The final standings of the PWSO 2023 MEG League will be revealed once the Group B tournament is over.
